Packaging Promotion
Products are made in the factory, brands are created in the mind - Walter Landor
In today's increasingly complex world, we vie for attention, admiration, alignment and allegiance. Investors, government officials, special interest groups, and companies are constantly seeking to be identified through all forms of branding. A brand is nothing more than a word but when a brand manages to make an emotional connection, people fall in love with them by purchasing them and they develop loyalties towards the brand.
Christina Tan's (top) packaging is reminiscent of a VHS tape as the structure is both space-saving and functional but it is not short of a boring design. Beige is chosen for a sense of femininity and the graphics are all her own creations. The main consideration for her design is one that calls for a space-saving display where these boxes can be stacked and displayed in stores that usually have limited space shelves.
In line with space-saving, Jeremy Tan's (below) treatment calls for a partition within a cubic packaging which evenly divides the space into four areas for different kinds of underwear. On the outside, suggestions for different activities are matched with the types of underwear contained inside.
Packaging Promotion
In this assignment, student Sim Yi Wen (top) created a niche packaging for young guys as they first encountered their periods and the packaging comes sanitary napkins with a marker and a personal period tracking chart. In coping with changes in moods, there are graphics that indicate the symptoms of periods.
Carol Chan Yan Ru (bottom) proposes a Victoria's Secret disposable underwear with a customized logo to resemble the cover of a passport and she labels her product "Travel Pink & Easy". Inside the passport, there are more customized labels to indicate the advantages of having a slightly pricier but worthy disposable underwear for ladies.

Social Activism Posters
By definition, activism is the intentional action to bring about change in society, politics, economy or the environment. While activism may be synonymous with protest or dissent, it can consist a wide range of actions ranging from writing letters to printed media, boycotts, strikes or any other tactics that can persuade people to change their thinking or behavior. It continues to evolve as human beings continue to live in social, cultural, philosophical and technological contexts.
Dissenting is essential in a democratic setting as citizens are able to voice their opinions. Working with the adage that a picture is worth a thousand words, students are required to produce an A2-sized poster. Issues to consider may be the ones directly or indirectly affecting our everyday lives in Singapore. Image used are self-created and typestyle are either self-generated or computer typeset. Issues of legibility must be addressed.
For Jayne Tham Hew Kuan whose social activism poster is for pinkdot.sg, issues of gay acceptance is confronted head on where through the suggestions of nuts with a big hole which apparently is not suitable for the bolt, things are not how we'd always like them to be, as suggested in her text.

Extraordinary Greeting Cards
In this day and age when people are inclined to send massive emails and e-cards, printed greeting cards become an "endangered". The challenge was to create cards that are not only original in the approach, but also one that is fun and can never be replaced by the impersonal computer technologies.
[Top] Charissa Tan's solution was a card that comes in printed sandwich with lunch bag and a marker to personalize different messages that can be customized on the variety of food found in a lunch bag. She cleverly uses pronunciations that mimic Mandarin and rhymes the two together such as the following: "yiu mayo [as in mayonnaise] siang wo" (do you miss me?) found on the pen.
[Bottom] Loh Pei Si's solution is a a functional greeting card which is meant for graduation events. Devising a simple die cut, the card could be turned into a photo frame.
